Love and Logic
"You can do anything you want in this
classroom provided it doesn't cause a problem for someone else."
The discipline plan in my classroom is much the same as our
school wide plan:
1. Take care of yourself
2. Take care of each other
3. Take care of the environment
It is designed to share control, share thinking and
decision-making, and help children increase their self-concept
by setting enforceable limits in a loving way with logical
consequences. Logical consequences will help your child fix his
mistakes and know what to do next time, not make him feel bad.
Your child will be held accountable for solving his problems in
a way that does not make a problem for others. It is my hope
that through respect and empathy I can help your child gain the
necessary skills to make good choices and realize that making it
through a tough situation is always an option. In addition to
providing a safe environment where kids feel free to take risks
and feel empowered with making choices. I am passionate about
building a working community where we truly care for one
another. In building this trust and community your child will
take part in a Compliment Circle(during Morning Meeting) where
we share good things about each other...to one another. A true
testament to being a family. A true sign that we are all in this
together; each and every one of us encouraged to filling each
other's bucket!

Whole-Class Management
If our entire class is showing
excellent behavior and earns a compliment from myself or any
other adult we earn a minute on our Class Clock. We will use a
large Judy Clock - that begins on 8:00. Each time we receive a
compliment we move the minute hand one minute. Once the clock
has moved 15 minutes the class receives a reward. This is a
great way to reinforce the concept of time while rewarding the
class for excellent behavior. Rewards are as follows: 8:15 - 15
extra minutes of recess 8:30 - 30 minutes of game time 8:45 - 45
minutes of computer time 9:00 - class picnic or pizza in the
room for lunch If the class reaches all of the above rewards,
the rewards start over. |
